Retail wedding website for sale: *Sniff*… I will miss you!

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

Yes, you read it right. Our beloved OrangeandBlossom.com is looking for just the right new caretaker & friend. As much as I have loved creating, tweaking, filling and admiring this online wedding boutique, I have also found my life filled with other pursuits (including our High Tea for Alice cupcake stands) that have nudged me to make a difficult decision. I won’t spill all the details here, but if you or someone you know is interested, please get in touch. The site can be used as is or transformed with the help of our Web designer into your own beautiful vision… I will miss you all… greatly! {Photo & homepape photos generously courtesy of Vanessa Preziose Photography. }

New in the shop: crystals, zebras and plenty of candlelight

Monday, November 28th, 2011

We’re always on the lookout for ways to light up a room. Especially a room filled with people you love most in the world… We recently added a handle of new ways to do just that, from crystal-studded votive candle holders & candleabras worthy of a wedding centerpiece on their own, to zebra-print candle holders & clusters of silver metallic mercury glass candle holders just right for a tea light. See them all under our Wedding Candle Holders category. And if you don’t find it there, drop us a note using the “Contact Us” form above. We love hearing about just what you need so we know what to add next. Flameless pillar candles? Strings of lights or colorful lanterns? Scented battery-operated flameless candles? Hmmm. You tell us!

A tall, hot pink 4 tier cupcake stand for wedding desserts

Wednesday, October 19th, 2011

Brides love our 4-tier tea stands for wedding cupcake displays. Not only are the colors & details absolutely gorgeous in that Victorian, Marie Antoinette theme kind of way, but the large displays hold plenty of cupcakes with statuesque grandeur.

Simply scatter remaining cupcakes around the base of the cake pedestal. Some brides have used these vintage china cupcake stands as a tiered favor holder, candy bar buffet centerpiece or for cookies & treats on the dessert table alongside the wedding cake.

We love that you can use them at home for special occasions long after the big day. Assemble just 2 or 3 tiers for a smaller stand for everday.

Here, our bright pink cupcake tower shines with sparkly metallic gold details, $265. The vintage porcelain pieces hail from England, Germany and the US. Just watch that Grandma doesn’t try to swipe it from you. She’ll want to add it to her collection, for sure…

Love the queen’s necklace, love Michelle’s dress, so wedding worthy!

Thursday, October 13th, 2011

If I could ask Queen Elizabeth II where you pick up a necklace like that and how many years I will need to save, save, save in my piggy bank just to wear it, I would. But most girls aren’t privvy to this information, sadly. So, I will admire it from afar & see it in my dreams. Sparkle city, I adore that necklace! Where was this knockout piece for Will & Kate’s wedding? Oh yes, she wore traditional pearls with her sunny little yellow suit. Another fabulous choice, with a glittering, can’t-miss-it brooch just darling pinned rather high on her shoulder.

On the same occasion that the Queen wore THAT necklace, (and I know I’m a million years behind in posting about this), we saw Michelle Obama’s flattering Tom Ford dress. The Obama’s visit to the royal palace way back on May 24, 2011 was quite the fashion show! The first lady paired the flowing gown with white, opera-length gloves & a silver clutch for a statuesque look that is part goddess, part bride. Again, love.

Ooooh, speaking of gloves! We have several vintage pairs of our own, and more to come, back in the vintage bridal boutique (which also brims with vintage bridal rhinestone jewelry, BTW.) One pair, to rival Michelle’s, are this same divinely long length. Ideal for a winter wedding these opera-length gloves are trimmed in snow-white fur.  Perfect for any wedding, palace visit or otherwise. {Seriously, the queen is just too cute in her yellow, right? The happiest color, worn with prim, proper, ladylike class…}

Also for vintage-inspired winter weddings, take a peek at our vintage bridal shrugs in faux and real fur (one which includes a vintage brooch). The bride can’t be seen with goosebumps & ’tis the season! We’re always on the lookout for vintage bridal shrugs, fur wraps, stoles, faux fur shawls & so on. Let us know if you need one & we will see if we can fnd it. We’ve just custom-scouted several for brides getting married with winter weddings.

Fall into two end-of-summer wedding inspiration boards

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

I know, summer is officially over. (Noooo!) In my mind, summer lives forever. Growing up in Ohio, summer never felt long enough, hot enough or free enough. I wanted it to keep going on & on… Even here in Southern California, I resist the gloomy autumn mornings, the chill before the sun goes down, the layers. I’m one of those offbeat people who really doesn’t need the seasons at all.

Even so, these two etsy wedding treasuries sure capture the last precious days of warm weather, yet with a touch of fall that even I can’t resist. One of our High Tea for Alice tiered wedding cupcake stands appears in each one… Thanks to aldari & TreasuresRenewed for including us!

A wedding cupcake stand that looks like a wedding cake

Monday, July 18th, 2011

Over in our High Tea for Alice etsy shop, this wedding cupcake stand of white vintage china takes “upcycled” up, up and away. Measuring nearly 2 feet high, this grand tower offers extra room for more treats underneath its four tiers. Fans of high tea: this tea stand rises to the occasion. One-of-a-kind & perched on a pedestal, sweet pinks & greens pop on classic white porcelain. For Alice in Wonderland style, a proper cup & saucer in the vintage “Bridal Rose” pattern sit on top. Once the cupcakes are gone, use the stand for family celebrations at home. When assembled with just two or three tiers, it becomes a charming mini stand; $250.

As seen on: Elizabeth Anne Designs Wedding Blog

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Why I didn’t get to this post sooner is a crime. But never mind all that; it’s here now. I wanted to share this incredibly styled wedding shoot (meaning, no, not a real wedding, but one put together through the dreams of talented, like-minded pros). I would love this shoot any time or place! But I love it just a little bit more because the sweestest eco-friendly stationery guru, Jen of Earthly Affair, so kindly called on me to participate with one of our three-tiered wedding cupcake stands of vintage china. She was part of a team that was crafting their entry for the Glitter and Glam wedding Inspired Creations Contest on Elizabeth Anne Designs Wedding Blog. And what a contest it was!

The pink & gold tea stand I sent off, unknowing then of the shoot’s incredible Marie Antoinette wedding theme, was one of my favorites. Girly yet sophisticated, it has a Mad Hatter style proper teacup & saucer on top that the visionaries promptly filled with classic mints surrounded by French wedding macarons in pink. So chic! Once you’re done browsing the entries, please be sure to leave a comment for their Paris wedding, as the winner has not yet been determined & your feedback counts! {If you love the stand, just convo me through our cupcake stand shop on etsy. It’s unofficially available for $175. Until it’s gone like those beautiful pink treats…}

As seen on: The Crafty DiY Bride, an Alice in Wonderland wedding

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

I always love popping in on Mel, the sweet chick behind The Craft DiY Bride blog. She puts together a thoughtful mix of trends, inspiration & pretty, of-the-moment ideas, many with non-scary DIY instructions.

Last Friday she included our vintage china tea stand with pink plates & a butterfly in her roundup for a handmade Alice in Wonderland wedding theme as seen above. Click the link to find out where she found all of these little darlings. My favorite (and it is a tough choice): the custom Marie Antoinette-style wedding gown, shown in a light blue brocade. Dreamy beyond words for a very specific kind of bride.

For weddings with a tea theme, see Mel’s cute posts on vintage tins (including tea tins) & vintage tin vases.

Our vintage wedding gloves on a beauitful Southern bride

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

One thing that’s easy to forget about a Audrey Hepburn-style pair of vintage bridal gloves: despite their light look, they can be remarkably warm. That’s why Julie Aldridge Kelley only wore her sweet Orange & Blossom wedding gloves for a portion of her July wedding day in South Carolina. But what an impact they made!

Julie won these 3/4-length vintage white bridal gloves in the “Do You Love Me?” vintage accessories contest we sponsored last February on Classic Bride Blog. Giving away favorite vintage wedding items that needed a little TLC was so much fun, but boy was it tough to choose the winners.

Julie’s entry, however, made it easy: “The daisy-beaded gloves with beaded cuff are lovely! As I am petite, I had to choose a simple gown to not overwhelm my body. The only way to dress it up is with hair adornments (not my style) or gloves. The problem with gloves is that most are way too big! I’ve been on the lookout for small vintage gloves. These are perfect! Our venue and my style is very mid-20th century (ok…I’m old-fashioned). My mother is a seamstress, so the stitching of the thumb should be no problem. I would love the opportunity to restore them and put them to good use! They are beautiful!”

How could I resist sending them to her? If the wedding was as lovely as these photos, she must have had one dream-come-true of a wedding day… (I LOVE her shoes!)

Warm congratulations to you Julie!… and to your generous and talented photographers for sharing their photos: Kathy Moore Powell from Moore Photography and Brantley Freeman from All Dressed Up Photography.

For those seeking vintage wedding gloves, we have two more pairs coming to the shoppe next week!
