Are you on Pinterest for your wedding inspiration boards?

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011

I had to ask. Seems like I’m always one of the last to know about anything. Especially when it comes to technology. But I think I kind of like it that way. We don’t have TV. That should give you an idea of my level of “in the loop…”! Anyway, fans of Pinterest know that weddings are a HUGE deal there, both for creating your own inspiration boards by “pinning” images from across the Web & collecting them all in one place and for peeking at boards made by other brides who have done the same. If you need an idea of where to start (highly unlikely), just go to the Pinterest Weddings category and feast your eyes.  While Pinterest has its limitations (like, why can’t I rearrange the images on my boards?), they do make it easy to “repin” images you find to your own boards, email an image, tweet it, Like it or just admire it, no technology required. The lack of tools on Pinterest is likely temporary. So enjoy it while it lasts. Not being able to perfect everything you do there is somewhat liberating!

Fall into two end-of-summer wedding inspiration boards

Wednesday, September 28th, 2011

I know, summer is officially over. (Noooo!) In my mind, summer lives forever. Growing up in Ohio, summer never felt long enough, hot enough or free enough. I wanted it to keep going on & on… Even here in Southern California, I resist the gloomy autumn mornings, the chill before the sun goes down, the layers. I’m one of those offbeat people who really doesn’t need the seasons at all.

Even so, these two etsy wedding treasuries sure capture the last precious days of warm weather, yet with a touch of fall that even I can’t resist. One of our High Tea for Alice tiered wedding cupcake stands appears in each one… Thanks to aldari & TreasuresRenewed for including us!

As seen on: Elizabeth Anne Designs Wedding Blog

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

Why I didn’t get to this post sooner is a crime. But never mind all that; it’s here now. I wanted to share this incredibly styled wedding shoot (meaning, no, not a real wedding, but one put together through the dreams of talented, like-minded pros). I would love this shoot any time or place! But I love it just a little bit more because the sweestest eco-friendly stationery guru, Jen of Earthly Affair, so kindly called on me to participate with one of our three-tiered wedding cupcake stands of vintage china. She was part of a team that was crafting their entry for the Glitter and Glam wedding Inspired Creations Contest on Elizabeth Anne Designs Wedding Blog. And what a contest it was!

The pink & gold tea stand I sent off, unknowing then of the shoot’s incredible Marie Antoinette wedding theme, was one of my favorites. Girly yet sophisticated, it has a Mad Hatter style proper teacup & saucer on top that the visionaries promptly filled with classic mints surrounded by French wedding macarons in pink. So chic! Once you’re done browsing the entries, please be sure to leave a comment for their Paris wedding, as the winner has not yet been determined & your feedback counts! {If you love the stand, just convo me through our cupcake stand shop on etsy. It’s unofficially available for $175. Until it’s gone like those beautiful pink treats…}

As seen on: The Crafty DiY Bride, an Alice in Wonderland wedding

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

I always love popping in on Mel, the sweet chick behind The Craft DiY Bride blog. She puts together a thoughtful mix of trends, inspiration & pretty, of-the-moment ideas, many with non-scary DIY instructions.

Last Friday she included our vintage china tea stand with pink plates & a butterfly in her roundup for a handmade Alice in Wonderland wedding theme as seen above. Click the link to find out where she found all of these little darlings. My favorite (and it is a tough choice): the custom Marie Antoinette-style wedding gown, shown in a light blue brocade. Dreamy beyond words for a very specific kind of bride.

For weddings with a tea theme, see Mel’s cute posts on vintage tins (including tea tins) & vintage tin vases.

Our vintage wedding gloves on a beauitful Southern bride

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

One thing that’s easy to forget about a Audrey Hepburn-style pair of vintage bridal gloves: despite their light look, they can be remarkably warm. That’s why Julie Aldridge Kelley only wore her sweet Orange & Blossom wedding gloves for a portion of her July wedding day in South Carolina. But what an impact they made!

Julie won these 3/4-length vintage white bridal gloves in the “Do You Love Me?” vintage accessories contest we sponsored last February on Classic Bride Blog. Giving away favorite vintage wedding items that needed a little TLC was so much fun, but boy was it tough to choose the winners.

Julie’s entry, however, made it easy: “The daisy-beaded gloves with beaded cuff are lovely! As I am petite, I had to choose a simple gown to not overwhelm my body. The only way to dress it up is with hair adornments (not my style) or gloves. The problem with gloves is that most are way too big! I’ve been on the lookout for small vintage gloves. These are perfect! Our venue and my style is very mid-20th century (ok…I’m old-fashioned). My mother is a seamstress, so the stitching of the thumb should be no problem. I would love the opportunity to restore them and put them to good use! They are beautiful!”

How could I resist sending them to her? If the wedding was as lovely as these photos, she must have had one dream-come-true of a wedding day… (I LOVE her shoes!)

Warm congratulations to you Julie!… and to your generous and talented photographers for sharing their photos: Kathy Moore Powell from Moore Photography and Brantley Freeman from All Dressed Up Photography.

For those seeking vintage wedding gloves, we have two more pairs coming to the shoppe next week!

As seen on: Bravo Bride blog today… our wedding tea stands!

Monday, March 14th, 2011

Well, once again I almost fell over when a top top top blogger of a top website for new & preowned wedding items emailed to say she had featured us on her blog today. Life is good!

Susan Shapiro of Bravo Bride (an incredible resource for affordable pre-owned wedding gowns, accessories, jewelry & much more) dropped a note to say she had posted about our wedding tea and custom cupcake stands. Eeeep! Thank you, Susan!

I was THRILLED that she had found us, but also just a little embarassed becuase the shop has been so sparse as of late. Life got busy!

Not for long… Come April, both Orange & Blossom and High Tea for Alice will get lots of love & attention, plus new vintage & seasonal wedding items on this site & new china tea stands for all those wedding cupcakes over in the etsy shoppe. Patience please & thank you with a cherry on top…

As seen in: Style Unveiled & Jen’s Closet, everyone loves a stand

Saturday, November 20th, 2010

We’re lucky to meet so many sweethearts while doing what we love to do!

Yesterday, both the amazingly wedding-savvy girls at StyleUnvieled.com & the master of vintage etsy shops, Jen’s Closet, featured our wedding cupcake stands on their blogs.

While Style Unveiled chose our Turkey-to-Table Thanksgiving display stand centerpiece, Jen highlighted a 3-tier yellow cupcake stand, as well as one we created for a friend from a mini set we picked up in Jen’s shop. Thank you, ladies! As always, you are both so kind to us & we send the love right back at you…

P.S.: Do you know that I almost fell over when I saw that the SO stylish Style Unveiled has added little us to their list of Adored Blogs for weddings??? What a glorious day! I’m giving my thanks early…

As seen on Classic Bride blog: wedding bells are ringing… ours!

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Hop on over to Classic Bride blog today & tomorrow where the lovely Sarah Darcy (now living a dreamy life over in Europe) blogs about classic wedding details. Today, our own little vintage-style elopement back in August made it into her coveted posts. Yay! {We’ll be there tomorrow, too…}

Hey, did you notice those glittering vintage earrings in her post? I loved them so much as soon as I found them that I picked up a second pair I happened to find while online wedding shopping. These vintage Farrah Fawcett rhinestone earrings have incredible beauty that’s fitting of this memorable icon of film & genuine joie de vivre. Find them in our vintage bridal accessories shoppe. Very Old Hollywood for a vintage wedding, these dazzling danglers drop a full 3 1/4 inches with starlet-style crystal glitz. I didn’t even wear a necklace with mine… they command attention on their own. $125 from orangeandblossom.

Can’t wait to see what Sarah puts together for tomorrow’s post… !

As seen on: Preston Bailey’s Entertaining blog… blushing with glee!

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

A week ago, I woke to a message from my now-friend Andrea at Superfine Bakery in L.A. She had seen one of our vintage tea, cake, cupcake display stands on a blog & wanted to drop a sweet note. Only thing was, it wasn’t just any blog; it was Mr. Preston Bailey’s Entertaining blog. Yes, we were thrilled! That’s a given, right?

Two of our stands flew out of the etsy shoppe that day, before I could even add them here on Orange & Blossom. It’s been a whirlwind ever since.

We do have a new tea stand on etsy (and more to come there & on this site, too), which actually has hints of colors found on Andrea’s glamorous Petite Regal cake above. Can you believe the detail?!? The gold circles, the gilt damask, not to mention that clever stand it’s sitting in… Stunning for a plum/eggplant winter wedding.

But… I will tell you all about Superfine Bakery’s super yummy things next week. Including delicious edible wedding favors that have nothing to do with cake at all. Happy Friday! May something good happen for you!
